Biomass in the hands of god or the government?!

The use of biomass has increased a lot in the Netherlands for the last decade. So, how could this increase of the use of biomass occur? This is mainly because of the high subsidies in the Netherlands what caused the biomass sector to further develop itself. This development has contributed to the technological status and large companies have already adopted these technologies to use biomass for the large scale energy production.
Without the subsidy for sustainable energy the large scale production of energy by means of biomass is only feasible given the following conditions;

- When biomass is available for a sufficient price that is competitive to alternative fuels like fossil fuel or nuclear fuel.
- Where environmentally driven policies encourage deployment.
